FSK is noted for it's extensive use of technology. Students have access to five computer labs and each classroom has computers wired to the Internet. Every child, at every grade level, has access to a computer. We also have three mobile "wireless computer lab" carts that can be moved from room to room as need arises.

Teachers use Best Practices when integrating technology into instruction for curriculum enhancement. FSK offers a strong, diverse arts program and a variety of sports and extracurricular activities and programs. Our progress can be seen in our continually rising "standarized" test scores and our Maryland School Assessment (MSA) scores, which continue to surpass the city average. Our school also receives strong support from community partners (Kiwanis Club, Struever Bros. Eccles and Rouse, eMagination, Amerigroup, Walmart and the National Aquarium, to name a few).

Teachers and students engage in learning activities in our Distance Learning Lab (DLL). The walls of the classroom are made "invisible" as students and teachers share in telecommunications activities across town and across the country. In-house and city-wide professional development workshops are conveniently held in the DLL.

FSK serves a diverse population of students, which includes our special needs population, ESOL classes and the Gifted and Talented Program. To accommodate the needs of all of these students, we employ a variety of technology aids, from Smart-Boards to assist the developmentally delayed -- to the Opass, an interpretive device, used by the ESOL students.

In art, music, physical education, home economics, as in other classrooms at FSK, teachers and students are infusing technology into their daily lessons. Whether it is using graphing calculators, digital cameras, camcorders, or the Viscam, new opportunities are being offered to our students--for the future--to ensure them a spot on the "Information Superhighway."
